Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR-T) for teens

MMBSR is an evidence-based program supported by more than 29,000 peer-reviewed research papers. It was started by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, MD, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979. It was designed to support patients living with chronic health conditions and it has been expanded and is appropriate for most people experiencing physical or mental stress. MBSR program participants report an increased sense of wellbeing and long-lasting improvement in physical and mental health, including reduced physical and emotional pain, enhanced calmness, enhanced competence, improved concentration, greater clarity, lower blood pressure, and improvements in sleep.

MBSR-T is an adaptation of the MBSR program. It is developmentally appropriate for and relevant to teens. MBSR-T is an 8 week group program that combines education, mindfulness, movement, and other therapeutic tools. The program teaches practical, easily applicable skills for managing stress and coping with challenges. The learning format, course content, and activities have been modified to best align with teens’ learning styles, preferences, and interests. The MBSR-T course is designed to be a confidential, safe, and inclusive space to learn, share, and improve wellbeing.

At Present, we believe in equitable access for all. Please note that all aspects of the program, including movement, are designed to accessible to all people with all levels of experience and ability. If you have a special need and would like to discuss accommodations, please contact us and we will help.
